Cage Adapter

Cage Adapter

MOV cage mounting adapters enable users to install compatible two- or three-bolt cages on the fork that lack adequate mounting points. Or to offset the bottle cage mounting positions on the frame.

The adapters are designed to install each cage onto at least one existing screw mount for maximum load capability and security. Or use two adapters to set up a bottle cage on the frame without a screw mount.

Component

Mounting Adapters  /  3D printed from durable Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) material.

Protective Pad  /  Made from high-strength Polyurethane (PU) to keep the cage from moving and protects the tube surface.

Zip Ties  /  Each kit contains nylon zip ties in multi lengths for use with different tube sizes.

Larger Washers & Screw  /  Increase security and stability for bike forks and heavier setups.

Adapter sizes

Adapters with 17.5mm and 12mm guiding tenons feature an opening to hold a zip tie and are suitable for MOV and third-party cargo cages. The 12mm version allows users to slightly adjust the mounting point.

When used on a cage with a thicker back plate, simply wrap the zip tie over the tenon.

Adapters with an 8mm tenon will fit most bottle and cargo cages on the market.

Fork mount application

Cage adapters are available in three different thicknesses to accommodate cages on various tube blade diameters and shapes.

It is possible to securely install bottle or cargo cages on bikes with forks that have just one mounting boss on each side.

Frame application

Duo adapter kits are handy for offsetting bottle cages ±64mm on smaller frames or when a half-frame bag is in place.

Not suitable for offsetting a cage that needs to cross over a front derailleur clamp.

Other features & details

Differences compared to third-party add-on cage mounts

  • Pairs with the original screw mounting points to make setups more secure while maintaining a slim profile
  • Fits various tube sizes and shapes
  • Applicable to carbon fibre frames and forks
  • A non-quick-release system is suitable for users who don't need to replace cages frequently.
  • The slimmest adapters won't increase the distance from the tube much when used for offsetting cages. Leave more space for accessing bottles in a packed area.

Compatible frame tube and fork blade sizes

Cage adapters are suitable for tubes in any shapes with circumferences from 5 to 20 cm. About 1.6 to 6 cm when measured in diameter.

Maximum load

  • After being properly set up, the load limit will depend on the cage’s capacity and loading specs.
  • When setting up large cargo cages, use two Cage Adapters if only one screw mount is available.
  • If not secured to a screw mount on the seat or down tube, a bottle cage can hold a plastic bottle containing up to 800ml of fluid.

Attention

  • Not suitable for carbon fibre cages
  • Do not skip the protective pad
  • Make sure the zip ties are fully tightened. Test this by pushing the cage setup on both sides to check that it does not move.
  • Adapters and protective pads are reusable until they no longer keep their shape
  • When reusing a protective pad that was trimmed for the previous setup, ensure that it covers at least two-thirds of the new tube's circumference.
  • If you will frequently disassemble the setup and reuse adapters, consider purchasing extra zip ties. Use 8 mm wide by 20 cm long zip ties on Chromo forks, seat tubes, and down tubes. For aluminum and carbon forks and down tubes, use 25 cm zip ties.
